Inpa Kanagaratnam is a Senior Consultant to the Firm, with several years of experience in the legal field; having covered both litigation and adjudication in multiple jurisdictions including Sri Lanka, Seychelles and the United Kingdom. He has extensive experience in Arbitration and the British judiciary. He is a qualified Fellow of the Institute of the Arbitrators in Singapore, having arbitrated in the London court of International Arbitration, as well as in Seychelles covering commercial disputes.
In London, he served for 17 years as a judge specializing in Human Rights and Immigration courts, having been appointed by the Lord Chancellor of England and Wales.
His experience in law practice has spanned civil law, employment law and immigration law; as well as in Human Rights Law, having covered numerous cases regarding the European Convention of Human Rights.
Prior to this, he acted as the Senior Counsel to the government of Seychelles, where he represented the government and semi government entities in court. He was later seconded as an advisor to the Minister for Trade and Manpower whilst in Seychelles.
He began his legal career in Sri Lanka as a State Counsel in the Attorney General’s Department, and later was an Assistant Secretary of the Employers Federation of Ceylon.
He holds and MBA (Law and Management) and he is a Barrister in Australia, a Solicitor in England and Wales and an Attorney-at-Law in Sri Lanka.
