Sandamal Rajapakshe is a Legal Counsel at the Firm and was called to the bar in 2004. Soon thereafter, he joined the Chambers of Mr. Desmond Fernando, President’s Counsel, where he gained valuable knowledge and experience and became familiar with the intricacies of legal practice at an early stage. Thereafter he joined the Chambers of Mr. Upul Jayasuriya, President’s Counsel and has since further enhanced his practice and commenced his own private practice.
Over the years, he has been involved in several landmark cases such as the Anthony Emmanual Fundamental Rights Case, Presidential Election Petition case in 2010 and also the Fundamental Rights Case 278/08, where he was the Counsel for the Petitioner.
He specializes in areas of Civil Litigation, including Commercial Law, Admiralty Law, Customs Inquiry Cases, Fundamental Rights applications, Writ Applications, Land Law, Labour Law, Arbitration matters and Criminal matters in the Courts of First Instance and Criminal Appeals.
He has read a Masters of Law from the University of Colombo in Advance Company Law, Arbitration Law and International Trade Law. He also possesses several other qualifications such as a Diploma in Arbitration (ICPL Arbitration Centre, Colombo), an International Diploma in Arbitration (College of Law, London), an International Diploma in Intellectual Property Law (College of Law, London) and a Diploma in Forensic Medicine (University of Colombo).
Furthermore, he is a member of the British Computer Society (MBCS) and a member of the Australian Computer Society, and he has extensive knowledge and experience of cyber security issues, Information Technology contracts and related issues.
