Purnima Pilapitiya

Legal Associate

Purnima is a Legal Associate in the Corporate and Commercial and Labour & Employment practices of the Firm. She was enrolled as an Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka having been called to the Bar in August 2022.

Prior to joining the Firm in 2022, Purnima completed her apprenticeship at a leading law firm in Colombo, Sri Lanka. She has gathered a wide and varied professional experience working in the fields of legal research with an emphasis on arbitration and gender/ human rights, the corporate sector, media and finance industries.

She is currently engaged in the areas of corporate transactional matters, drafting of corporate and commercial agreements, corporate secretarial work, civil litigation and labour and employment related matters.

She has read for a Bachelor of Laws (Hons.) degree from the University of London and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka.

Upul was called to the bar in 1976 and later joined the Attorney General’s Department as a State Counsel in 1978. He was the first Legal Consultant to the Greater Colombo Economic Commission (GCEC) in 1978 which is now popularly known as the Board of Investment (BOI).

Upul Jayasuriya

Inpa Kanagaratnam is a Senior Consultant to the Firm, with several years of experience in the legal field; having covered both litigation and adjudication in multiple jurisdictions including Sri Lanka, Seychelles and the United Kingdom. He has extensive experience in Arbitration and the British judiciary.

Nimal Weeraratne is a senior legal practitioner who provides independent consultancy services to the firm having returned to Sri Lanka after serving as High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Singapore & Brunei from 2015-2018.

Chula is the Precedent Partner of the Firm. She is a licensed Notary Public in both English and Sinhalese, and has extensive legal expertise in the fields of real estate and conveyancing with over thirty-five years of experience and training.

Mohamed is a Partner of the Firm who oversees all labour and employment matters and specialises in civil litigation and dispute resolution. He is an experienced practitioner counting over twenty years of practice in the fields of industrial relations and international labour standards and has dealt with HR and industrial relations matters involving leading business entities.

Kalana is a Partner of the Firm and was called to the Bar in 2010 as an Attorney-at-Law. He has extensive experience in the areas of corporate transactional law and commercial law including public private partnerships, investment structuring, restructuring of companies, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions as well as litigation. His specialty lies in taking a practical commercial approach in safeguarding the interests of his client.

Kalana Jayasuriya

Erandi is a Partner of the Firm. Her areas of expertise include mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate restructuring, cross border transactions, amalgamations, drafting and reviewing commercial documents, providing advice on foreign investment and general legal advice on doing business in Sri Lanka. She also has extensive experience in conducting legal and secretarial due diligences on target companies prior to a merger and/or acquisition.
